Thom Yorke, a Radiohead énekese a banda blogjában bejelentette, hogy új zenekart szervezett, aminek basszusgitárosa Flea lesz! További tagok: Nigel Godrich (Radiohead producer), Joey Waronker (Beck/R.E.M. dobosa), Mauro Refosco (ütőhangszeres/multi-instrumentalista). Október 4-én és 5-én lesz is fellépésük a LA-i Orpheum Theatre-ben, ami nem lesz túl hosszú, mert még nincs túl sok anyaguk. Úgy néz ki, hogy tavaly kár volt örülni, ugyanis az RHCP megint a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame jelöltjei között van. O_o Még tavaly volt arról szó, hogy megkapják azt a bizonyos csillagot, de csak nem történt meg... A 25. beavatási ceremónia kedves "nyertesei" decemberben lesznek kihirdetve, ünneplés pedig március 15-én lesz New York-ban. Forrás

A CNET News szerint a Youtube vs. Warner probléma a végéhez közeledik és az eddig letörölt videók és zenék hamarosan újra elérhetők lesznek.

"The two sides have managed to reach terms on most of the major issues and a final deal could be announced within the next few weeks, sources with knowledge of the talks, told CNET News on Friday. What that means is the music and videos from such Warner acts as Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the White Stripes may soon be back on the Web's largest video site."

How are you gearing up mentally for the Chili Peppers to kick back into gear?
It's all good! I'm ready, it's gonna be fun. We haven't played in two years, so that's the longest we've ever not played together.

There's been a lot of concern over that, since you've been gone for so long. And John (Frusciante, RHCP guitarist) made a couple comments a while back on how he's got no intention of diving back in...
Yeah, he wasn't too anxious to get back & get going. But one way or another, we'll get going.

How do you reconcile all those personalities at this advanced stage in your careers?
I just try to do what's right for the music in whatever situation I'm in. I just feel like it's always fun to play different stuff and keep shit fresh. I just have to play, man. I just can't not do it. I'm fortunate that I'm able to find people as passionate as I am about playing music and keeping it fun. It's important to be artistically fulfilling, but at the same time you gotta enjoy yourself, man. It has to be a fun thing.

In terms of relating to or playing off the different guitarists you've worked with through the creative and recording process, is there a comparison to be made? Dave Navarro is a very different player than John, but your One Hot Minute album was so damn good.
Dave is more of a reactive player.. or at least he was with us, where John will initiate a lot of the ideas, come in with parts and ideas and such. With Dave, if you presented him with an idea, then he could come up wiht all kinds of stuff. But he wasn't a real instigator in that regard. And that's not taking away at all from his abilities as a musician - people just work creatively in different ways.

The Chili Peppers' creative approach seems to be very improvisational.
Right. The way that we were always used to was just jamming and improvising, and Dave's not a real jamming and improvising kind of person. Some stuff came out of that, but Flea was more the catalyst in coming up with ideas on that one. But that's the main thing with John - he'll have guitar ideas at home that he'll come in with. In all fairness to Dave, he was stepping into a circus, you know? We had our way that we worked, and I think he worked with Jane's Addiction in another way where Perry (Farrel) and Eric (Avery) would come up with parts and then Dave would come up with his thing. Just different approaches, initially.

It's a shame we'll never see those songs again though, because it's such a fantastic record.
Yeah. But John's... John is John, and there's nobody else like him. And Dave as well! We've just been fortunate to have played with such great musicians. The material just doesn't find a common place presently.

Megérkezett amire vártunk: a megerősítés John-tól is, hogy nem lépett ki a bandából ("I have not quit my band"). Nincs több pletyka, nincs több hülye feltételezés. :) Új interjú a The Horse Chronicles jóvoltából!

People are going to ask again. You have not publicly spoken about The Red Hot Chili Peppers future in music. The other guys in the band have. Are you still with the band?
"I don’t address rumors. Music is priority. The rest is nice but I don’t go out of my way to address rumors. Rumors are boring. I have not quit my band."

But you do agree the press can help make or break a band, right?
(laughs) "Yes. Music will always stand alone. Music will always have an underground scene. Yes. Press plays an important role for the cross over. You and I disagree sometimes. You know I won’t ever want to do music to commericalize it. I know some of your clients are doing music to make money. It doesn’t mean they are not talented, it just means their hearts are not in the right place. I make money too but it was not the reason I got into music. Music is my first love."

Speaking of music, what are you listening to?
"The last three songs I played are Sweet Sunlight by Ten Feet. They are out of Hawaii. Um, Renan Luce’s La Lettre. I know that is one we both like. Oh, and Trouble is a Friend by Lenka. Really like that song. I like the remix version."

Anything you are looking forward to?
"The new season of It is always sunny in Philadelphia. I will say your book too. It is shameless and you can be mad. I just know it is a goal of yours so more than the story I think it is important to get it out there."

Any plans to play with Camp Freddy? Dave Navarro said you are the best guitar, are something to the effect.
"I won’t say no."

Strangest thing about your fame?
"People assume when I am done with a show with my band I want to talk about gear. I do want to talk about it. It is a passion. Just sometimes the spirits feel otherwise and I have to go and write or spend time with my friends."

Want to address to recent cancellation with Bangface?
"Not really."

Any advise to offer for other musicians?
"Um, really to play around with effects and try not to loose sight of their writing. Your heart and the universe has a way of making things evolve. Greed is a terrible character trait. Do things out of purity for the love of it."
